I'm currently working on a friend's laptop computer - a Chinese TCL computer, to be precise, and it needs a SATA driver to enable the computer read the storage device. With out this SATA driver, I can't install any operating system. The TCL company website I cannot find, what can I do?

If you give up finding the driver (like I did once). Then there is a way around this which is to disable the AHCI option in your BIOS so your SATA will work as a normal IDE were the OS setup can see it. (at least temporarily). Check here:

Ya :), but problem is it probably won't give us the performance we expect from SATA. I still have that laptop which I did it for and I'm too lazy to find a driver for it.

Or you could just go to your motherboard manufacturers website and download it. Also you can go to your hard drive manufacturers website they typically have generic drivers there as well.
