Connection Problem!

hi, I have 2 computers connected by RJ-45 cabble.Win xp is the OS that runs on the computers.

The problem:

I have a reply for a ping from one computer(x) to the other computer (y) but dont have a reply from the other computer(y) to the first one(x).

I have to mention that no firewalls or other devices that can block ports or connections is involved here!

Hi Eli First check the class of Ip's you have posted on. USe class A ip series that 10.0.0.1 series . Have one machine as 10.0.0.1 & the other 10.0.0.2. Have their Subnet masks configured to 255.0.0.0 for both the machines and then try to ping from one machine to the other and vice versa

you could also try and check your cable. see to it that it was crimped properly and that color codes were followed. since you are using a UTP cable it should be in the crossover format standard.
