FallenZer0, relax man.. This is not the army
Totally correct. I am wondering FallenZer0, why don't you just take everything you find useful from the posts and ignore the rest, as everyone does. Oldstudent bothered to give you his 2-cents in your question, and he did that for good. So why not appreciate that regardless of whether you find his post useful or not? Besides.. starting a thread doesn't make you it's moderator
PS. And as you said..,
cheers
cant u see that by dissing other people posts, you have just killed your own thread [...] everyone is entitled to there opinion, to type whatever they want in whatever forum, with respect to the posting guidelines.

I find more valuable to a discussion someone's in-topic opinion than someone's off-topic flame..If your posts does NOT add value to a discussion then do NOT post.
cheers

I think there was value in what Oldstudent said -- his point -- that you should deny all and then open up what you need is absolutely valid. Especially if you're in the 'roll your own firewall' world which lots of us UNIX admins are.. where we get to create the policy from scratch as opposed to using the pre-determined policy.
The person took the time and trouble to reply to a post of yours, hoping to help you.. whether you found that helpful or not is irrelevant..
So FallenZer0 if you don't mind in the future, if your name is NOT in this list:
www.firewall.cx/modules.php?name=Forums&...le=groupcp&g=480
Don't bother deciding what is relevant or irrelevant on the forums. We manage that quite well IMHO.
With regard to the misspelling of your name, since it appears to be a big problem, I will personally undertake correcting the spelling in whatever posts I see...
We have nothing against dramatic discussions on the board, in fact you raise some interesting questions and give some good answers,
However when things degenerate to a flamewar over the spelling of a name, I believe its gone a bit too far.. and my optical mouse will just go *clickety click clickety click* and expunge those last few bytes that you so painstakingly grafted onto the Internet.
Tolerance, my friend, is a much harder art to master than criticism.
Have a nice day everyone, and play nice...
Cheers,
