i tried sending a message to all computers on my network; wasn't able to do so. Being a class C network, I tried sending a "net send" msg from dos to 192.168.0.255.
also, for some reason i am not able to send "net send" messages to particular computers (i type their computer names instead of the ip address, but it dowsn't help).
where did i go wrong?
P.S.: this site is a wealth of knowledge, brilliantly composed and remarkably maintained.

How did you send your message to all the computers on the network? Did you use this command:
[code:1]net send * message[/code:1]
This should work even if you have messenger service disabled (Sending messages that is).
Have you tried sending messages to computers through their IP address?
As the Shout Box mentions make sure the receiving computer has the messenger service enabled!!
