How do you wire ethernet jacks in a house? I would like to convert all the phone jacks in my house into ethernet jacks since I use VoIP with wireless phones. I plan to do this by attaching ethernet wires to the existing phone wires and pulling them down to my unfinished basement.

Goto your local hardware store walk to the data plug section you should see wall panels and keystone jacks. The keystone jacks generally color code their ports for the matching color cat 5 wire also buy a punch down tool. As for the wall installation itself your not running any wire where there isn't already wire pop out the old covers tie the cat 5 to the old telco cable and use it to run the new cable. Install the new pannels simply by following the instructions on the box.
