I now how MPLS-TE tunnels link & intermediate node protection work , but I was wondering if there are any protection schemes for the provider edge node(PE's) themselves.
Say PE 'A' has a tunnel mapped to PE 'D' for a particular FEC. What happens when the PE 'A' itself goes down? will a secondary/protected PE take over the tunnel traffic of PE 'A'. If yes then what is the mechanism or signalling that happens for switching to protected PE. And also are there any commands to set the secondary PE protection? :roll:
