The best way what I think is read books, and do praticals daily.

Also stay on this site and read through the basic material and blogs. if there is content on a particular thread that is unfamiliar to you, google it and learn it.

Definitely buy books and lots of them. I have three already. So far I have gone through 1 and a half and just started experimenting with network monitor and subnetting on my own network. The good thing about this profession is there is a lot of information in books and online.
