VOIP would be a revelant and current topic to write about I think..

Wireless field is generally a hot topic in the research arena. Wireless security is oven hot. Here are a few readings to start with:

You would also want to consider Malware and its variant, attack methods and counter measures.

The rise of malware has been increasing and as such has affected organisations ranging from small businesses to large coporations and even most governmental institutions.

Its a fascinating field to research and I find it alot more interesting.

But consider it and that mentioned in above posts too.
