Any one know how Ping affects network load if used as a sensor in monitoring softwares like PRTG or WUG?
Is it safe to put Ping sensor for all devices on the network to ping each x second or min?

It's pretty safe and doesn't generate too much traffic - unless you go for insane levels of monitoring. A basic ICMP ping after all is only 64 bytes for the request and 64 bytes for the reply - a mere 128 bytes all in. I usually go for a trade-off between number of devices and frequency of pings to keep the traffic levels small. And you can always use different frequencies for critical devices (that you want to be alerted on quickly) and others that aren't so important and where five minutes or so will do.
