We have windows server 2003 and exchange server 2003. In our office we configured outlook as exchange client for some users and POP3 for some users. We are taking backup for every user. In POP3 i am talking the backup of .pst files. In exchange we are talking the backup of .ost files. Is there any need to take a back up of .ost file? because i heard that the mails which are in .ost files are in server also and no need to take a backup of .ost files.
I am little bit confused about this. please clarify me regarding .ost and .pst files. why we dont need to take a backup of .ost files.
