Hi there...
I just visit my friend's campus network & he said their using GLBP as the default routing protocol..

If not mistake, the example of routing protocol such as Static Route, OSPF, RIP,BGP, EIGRP and so on.

If my friend configure GLBP at Catalyst 6500, is it possible if one of routing protocol also exist (OSPF, EIGRP etc2)?

According to wikipedia, GLBP is "a Cisco proprietary protocol that attempts to overcome the limitations of existing redundant router protocols (HSRP, VRRP etc) by adding basic load balancing functionality" and not a routing protocol. I think they are completely different things..

In precis, it's used for load balancing and not routing..

If all vlan is configured at core switch, not at distribution switch, the possible routing protocol is static route..Is it true?

Hi Apit,

As we know that there are two type of protocols

1. routed protocol - ( IP / IPX..)

2. routing protocol - ( Rip / Ospf / Eigrp....)

Routing protocol means which routes the packet..( forwards packet from one network to another network )

Where as we configure Hsrp / Vrrp or GLBP in same network subnet.

GLBP word itself says that its simply load balancing protocol.
