Hexadecimal question was created by Chojin
Everybody knows Binairy, Decimal, Hexadecimal (Thats my assumption )... but my real question..
Why do we NEED hexadecimal for our Cisco certification?
I know i've 'learned' hexadecimal for my CCNA exam (CCNP certified right now).. but I haven't found a great use for Hex until so far..
anyone has a great answer?!

Hi Chojin,
Not a great answer may be. Nothing really very important about hex I guess (at least for CCNA) other than that it's used for MAC addresses as you know.
In computer engineering field however, hex is some times useful for writing down long 32bit or 64bit memory addresses or values, such as in assembly programming. Hex makes it quicker to write these numbers since each 4bits will map quickly to a single digit in hex. Its not that quick to convert binary to decimal as you know.
By the way, Congrats on your CCNP

Thanks, covered my ONT with a 1000
Indeed the address notation is in Hex, but still converted to binairy when transported.... until now I haven't found a real usage for hex... maybe Multicast is a nice one for hex (Mcast > IPv6)..
Currently thinking about going for CCVP or CCSP....
