Learning QoS was created by Chojin
Hey All,

Right now I have the urgent need for my business to get to learn QoS.

Is it possible to understand how to implement QOS within 2-3 days or is that just totally out of the question?

As you know I am not unfamilliar with networking and have some knowledge.

At the point I don't have a clue how sophisticated QoS can be :).
thanks

Argh, run away

I must admit that i have not implemented QoS myself and only read about it (a long long time ago). It didn't seem that involved (although people may shoot me down). The key is that the devices within the network need to support the QoS tag in order to priorities the traffic.

I've been able to manage with only my louzy CCNA.. but it seems CCNP gets to grab me with the day... I got all books and have been studying my ass off last weekend....

Read all things about QoS, VoIP, BGP, OSPF crap and so on and on and on... I even start to dream VoIP over QoS with a 1Mbit BGP connetion... think i'm loosing it! haha :-).

Thanks for the reply, hope I can give some info about QoS, VoIP later on on the forum.. maybe a nice sticky to reduce my value on the market haha :).

I tend to stay away from QoS with the WatchGuard firewall. It is able to Traffic Management where you can specify bandwidth limits for traffic going through it so most of the time customers ask to setup QoS over VPN's for VoIP.

We find it much simpler to just use the Traffic Management for the VoIP tunnel to try and guarantee traffic over the internet (well out of the External Interface becuase you cannot control the rest of the Internet)

Obviously this is only dealing with traffic going to Branch Office's over VPN's. If you where looking at the Internal network to priorities the traffic through your LAN then QoS is the way providing all the devices support its tagging.
