Cisco Router was created by Rockape
Hi Folks, I committed a very basic "School boy error" not once, but twice
I was working on a Cisco 801 router, and deleted the IOS. I then turned the router off (Doh!). So now when I turn the router on, nothing happens, even if I connect using Hyperterminal. I know, I'll take some stick from the bishop when he is back in work. So, can anyone suggest anyway I can get an IOS backon onto an 801 router that doesn't have any.
Cheers

You need to setup a TFTP server on a PC (freeware here:
www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/Servers/O...ds-TFTP-Server.shtml
) and load the IOS file into it. Then you need to go to ROMmon mode (by pressing Ctrl+c) while the router is booting and then download the IOS file from the TFTP server. (type ? in ROMmon to get a list of all commands):

ISN't TFTP based on your IOS ??
I believe you have to use a null-modem cable directly towards your Router which will negotiate with the internal cisco-os (rom) to make it feasible to upload your IOS.

Does'nt seam so, articles.techrepublic.com.com/5100-1035-5623025-2.html

TFTP should work with ROMmon via the "tftpdnld" command and is the fastest way. It can be done with Xmodem but it will take ages.
