VoIP Lab was created by skepticals
I want to learn more about VoIP and Cisco's CallManager. How can I do so in a lab? I know I can get some IP phone off ebay for cheap, but how could I get them to work on my routers? Do I need call manager or call manager express to do so? Is it possible to generate calls without said software? Are there any education licenses? I only need two phones or so...

I was going to follow a path that included getting waist deep into the ip phone stuff, but decided against it. A big part of why I dropped it was some advice from a friend who suggested that the most important part is the stuff you can't do in a lab environment... Unless you were "very liberal" with how you acquire equipment and software it might be cost prohibitive to get really useful knowledge out of it..

I have no problem with being "very liberal" when it comes to lab/learning environments. I don't really see another way... plus, once I learn it, I will be able to implement it at business that pay for it.
