It is one of my gazillion books.
The one I got this from is "C Programming Faqs" by Steve Summit.
There is another pretty good one called "C++ Faqs Frequently Asked Questions" by Marshall P. Cline and Greg A. Lomow

I noticed you mentioned a subnet calculator. Here is a site where you can download one for free. They have a free TFTP server as well.

Got that one.. but its really heavy.. clocks in at about 11MB if I'm not mistaken. 3com has one as well which is a few 100k. However the point is to make an intelligent command line calculator.. so I can just press win+R, type 'ipcalc' (or something similar), and perform quick calculations. Also, I would make it interface with various other tools.. so say you calculate a range of hosts, you'll be given options to ping, portscan, name lookup etc all hosts in that range.
