Most of the config is via the config files and requires you to format it perfectly

There is a tool out there to help with the files.. But for the life of me I can't find it anymore.

I have been doing network documentation for several years I Netviz is our 'defacto' standard. Netviz is a very good tool for network documentation, there is a somewhat steep learning curve because netviz is very feature rich. www.netviz.com .

You can get a free demo down load of netviz from their website, they are located in Gaithersburg, Maryland and I believe they presently are a CA subsidarity

I have also used Visio, AutoCad, Corell Draw, but for network drawins, Netviz can't be beat

Skepticals, did you find something?

I was able to document my network's topology and computer-specific configuration with a mind-map.
