I've read this post, there is just info about DSL network from customer end to ISP end. I want to know the configuration of DSLM

Hi All,
DSLAM configurations is really anymore complicate then that of switch (though I have colleagues that disagree;-).
As stated in other posts elsewhere there are basically 2 flavours of DSLAM - ATM and IP/Ethernet.
ATM DSLAM CONFIGURATION
In this example we are looking to create a straight forward ADSL(2+) service to supply a single subscriber with a 4mb connection.
As a guide the following steps are required:
1. Configure the uplink port (Normally STM-1, ATM over SDH @ 155mb's)
2. Configure customer port - define dsl settings such as:
- Upstream rate i.e. 256Kb/s
- Downstream rate i.e. 4096 Kb/s
- DSL type - Fast or Interleave
- Training Type - Fast or RADSL
- Traffic Descriptor - ATM Quality of Service
3. Create ATM Connection between the customer port & uplink port:
- Set Customer VPI, VCI and encapsulation (VCMUX or LLC)
- Set Uplink VPI, VCI
4. Unlock customer port, therefor making the connection live.
IP/ETHERNET DSLAM CONFIGURATION
This is more complicated as we need to know about the capabilites of the DSLAM, i.e. can is support bridged, routed or routed bridge connections, and the services to be supported i.e IPTV.
If we use the same example as above we can see the config is more complicated:
1. Create uplink port (Gigabit Ethernet for example)
- Create VLAN (to carry traffic to ISP)
- Configure Ethernet Class of Service
2. Configure customer port - define dsl settings such as:
- Upstream rate i.e. 256Kb/s
- Downstream rate i.e. 4096 Kb/s
- DSL type - Fast or Interleave
- Training Type - Fast or RADSL
- Traffic Descriptor - ATM QoS
- Configure customer VLAN if required
3. Configure Customer Service (connection)
- Configure connection type (Bridged, Routed Bridged, Routed)
- Configure IP if required (Routed Bridged, Routed)
- Configure Uplink connection (Bridged)
- Configure Services (DHCP, MULTICAST, etc)
- Configure Quality of Service
- Configure routing (Routed Bridged, Routed)
