VLAN was created by hadi
Hi
VLAN membership can be based on MAC address, switch port number and protocol.
Which one is more popular? and Why?
Is there any conflict between DHCP and any kind of membership?
Thanks

The popular choice for VLAN assignment is definitely switch-port.

Assigning by MAC address is very secure, but not scalable, and time consuming.
Assigning by port isn't used very often either (I think). I can't tell you exactly why.

Assigning by switch-port is common, just because it is simplistic, easy to set up, and easy to manage.

DHCP works fine with VLANs. Keep in mind that DHCP will assign your layer 3 addresses, while VLANs are assigned at the layer 2 level.

In some documents it is written that "Protocol-based VLANs are not used much these days due to DHCP".
Would you tell me what the conflict is?
