issue with workgroup machines was created by leopold
hi,
i have a few machines in a workgroup all running xp pro. i then introduced a new machine also with xp pro and added the new machine to the same workgroup.
I am able to access this new machine from all my older machines and vice versa; however when i try to view the new machine in network neighbourhood from any machine in the workgroup, i fail to find the icon for the new machine!!!!!!!!!
any ideas????????

Sounds like a name resolution issue to me. Is NetBIOS over TCP/IP enabled in the TCP/IP properties ? Since this is only a workgroup environment i am guessing you are not using WINS ?

Hi all, i think i have a similar problem with machines in my workgrp. I've got a home network and have enabled file sharing etc i was able to access all PCs in the workgroup before but suddenly i can only access one albeith they are sharing their files. The other ones display 'access denied' when i attempt accessing them. Has this got anything to do with static IP addressing or am i doing something wrong. ideas will be greatly appreciated. thanks
Ps: IPs are assigned by dhcp. Also i have a zonealarm firewall but have filtered my network address so everyone one network can go through the firewall
