How routing works?

If you were using routing and remote services in 2003 server and you wanted to route two subnets binding two Ip's to each nic would be like having two interfaces in a normal router right ?

Hi, yes this is correct. From memory i think there is a tick box in RRAS to enable IP Routing (Right Click on the Server in the RRAS Snap-In --> Click Properties)

Hi, yes this is correct. From memory i think there is a tick box in RRAS to enable IP Routing (Right Click on the Server in the RRAS Snap-In --> Click Properties)

I have both subnets comunicating through RARS. I had to add a static route on the external sonic wall router
Destination mask gateway interface
192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0 192.168.0.151 LAN
the first subnet had a gateway of 192.168.0.2 so i had to make the static route to the RARS nic 192.168.0.151 in order to get to the 192.168.1.0 subnet.
I created another dhcp scope on the the other server so i have two dhcp scopes 1 on each server. 192.168.0.150 and 192.168.1.100. Now when the workstations recieve dhcp it randomly goes between each dhcp server sometimes its a 192.168.0.0 address and sometimes its a 192.168.1.0 address. Is there anyway to put more control over where each workstation recieves their dhcp. I have even tried assinging reservation Ip addresses but its still randomly chooes either one.

Sorry but the only way to do that is to seperate the two subnets by putting them on two seperate switches or using VLAN's. DHCP is a broadcast type mechanisam so its a case of whichever DHCP Server responds first.

Through DHCP server we can assign a particular reserved ip based on the MAC address of the workstaion's NIC. But I feel its very difficult to assing for n number of workstations. Instead of that we can give static IP for those workstation.
If you want for only particular workstion then it may works for you.
