VOIP Testing scenario was created by taqqi14
hi guys!
I have a question about VOIP network .
Lets look at following case
Mitel Ip Phone--->Cisco 2900 layer2 switch--->Mitel IP Phone#2
Will this config works for VOIP call back n forth btw 2 ip phones? or will i need to have SIP Proxy (registering server i.e Asterisk or Call Manager)?
I tried the above config but i cant on IP addresses tht i gave to 2 ip phones (10.0.0.1 & 10.0.0.2) .Mitel ip phone doesnt give me some kinda mapping through which i can map may b 10.0.0.1 = ext 111
10.0.0.2 = ext 222 so tht i can call using these map numbers.And it doesnt allow me to dial on ip addresses..Need help mates

Hi Taqqi,
I have not used Mitel IP phones so cannot comment on the config. However I would suggest the following would be a better test lab:
[code:1]
Mitel Ip Phone--->Cisco 2900 layer2 switch--->Mitel IP Phone#2
|
|
Sip Server
[/code:1]
For the sip server (proxy) you can use asterix (LINUX) or OnDo (windows).
I'd also use the following addressing:
Mitel IP Phone #1: 10.0.0.1
Mitel IP Phone #2: 10.0.0.2
SIP Server: 10.0.0.254
Then within the sip server you can set the mapping for IP to Ext.

Yes tht way it works...but i just wana confirm if i can direct dial from one ip phone to another ip phone without using sip proxy server.
HOTLINE function works in this case but mapping of number (i.e 111 ext ) is possible or not i m not sure.
Thnx Ranger
