Running 2 2600 series and a switch for CCNA lab purposes-One router is a2620(IOS 12.2) the others a 2612(IOS11.3). Does Anybody know if IOS version 11.3 will use subnet 0 by default when applying a VLSM config to it, or will it need the ip subnet zero command? Im hoping this is the reason the IOS is telling me 'bad mask' when applying a /30 VLSM to the serial interface. Could somebody please help me with this matter. Also where is the best place to purchase flash memory from? I cant update the IOS on the 2612 untill it has enough memory.

ip subnet zero isn't usually a default. Try enabling it using the command and then try adding your mask. It should be easy to prove the case that way
