public IP

Hi folks,
I have been trying to resolve this issue for some time. Guess I would need some help here. I have 4 win XP pro computers connected in my LAN. Right now each computer has a private IP
(range 192.168.1.x). I am trying to connect a DVR Digital Video Recording) camera to one of the computers. This computer would need a public IP address. The tech support I called informed me that placing the router in bridge mode would solve the problem. But in this case the other computers lose their internet connection. I have one static IP address also and when the computer is connected in bridge mode (i use a username & password to connect) I am able to get static IP on my computer. Is there anyway I can configure my DSL 502T router so that just one computer gets a public IP address while the rest of the computers also remain connected to the net.

The short answer to that is no. You will struggle to do that and anyway you would need two public ip addresses.

You could try to configure the router with a DMZ. Most DSL/Cable routers these days have a DMZ configuration where you can specify a machine address. This basically then will through everything that hits the outside of the Router to the DMZ machine specified.

The issues you may encounter is with the Video Conferencing protocols getting Nat'd. This may cause major issues as it doesn't like it unless the device thats performing the natting is able to handle to secondary connections that are required. I am not an expert on H323 but when we had our Video Conferencing Gateway installed, the engineer said that it is fussy with NAT.
