pinging

Does anyone know why when you ping for example 192.168.2.25
it would say repply from 192.168.1.3 recieved 4 100%. why does it say a repply from a IP that your not pinging. Im getting a repply but its from a Ip that does not exist when I then try to ping the 192.168.1.3 I get nothing what is going on here can anyone tell me ?

Can you be detail more about what are you pinging? is it normal PC or Server, or Router or.... and howmany NIC's it have? what is the configuration of these NIC(s)??

we need to now more about your network. these IP addresses you have talked about here are not special IP addresses. they are normal IP addresses. so there is a possibility that you just might have that IP address on your network. try tracerouting the two IP addresses and see how they map on the network. if possible post a picture of your network structure on this forum. this would enable us to troubleshoot further.

I figured out what was going on the second routers Wan IP adress was 192.168.1.3. I finally have two networks that can access each other ive done remote desktop and i can do file sharing. I think since the routes were distance vector it was screwing things up for me because there were two routes it could take but i wanted it to take the longest route or it wouldnt work correctly. And i faced dificluties because theese are cheap $40 routers that have barley any options. I had to work so much just to get it to work. The biggest issue was that i couldnt change the Lan side subnet mask on one of the routers to anything but 255.255.255.0
