Interface link status was created by calicutbobby
Hi friends,
I would like to know if there is any way we can find out if there was a change in the interface status other than finding it out from the logs.
I would like to know the status after the link coming back up. For example if there was a link fluctuation how would i verify the same other than from the logs.
Expecting an answer from you.

I honestly can't think of a better way to discover this problem than through using logs. In the case of Cisco equipment, you an enable traps to be sent when a link goes up or down. Then, a quick analysis of your trap logs on your monitoring device will show you what you need.

The link up/link down traps would be the way I would go too. If your logging/network management platform supports it you could even set off a pager message or audible alert to inform you of the status change

What the Bishop failed to mention is that we use both/all of these were we ae. We cover 7 main sites spread throughout the country, and during the day we have audible alerts, and after hours, pager alerts. We have been running this for many years, and it work (as long as the relevant PC that controls everything doesn't die
