Can anyone point me to information on variable length subnet masking pls?? I need basic, clear info - something even a dumbie can follow...

See if you can get your hands on a book called "Building Scalable Cisco Networks" its part of the CCNP/CCDP range and it has a good explanation of it in there.

Alternatively you can google it and hope you get something good, but I know the above book has a good explanation as I read it not that long ago.

I would also try www.cisco.com as they tend to have an excellent knowledgebase thats explains most topics in great detail.
