Hence why I did not search first.
Can one attach an accesspoint to the uplink port of a switch? What exactly IS the uplink port for? I love to learn stuff, please enlighten me!

The uplink port is a special port designed for connection between two switches or hubs. It is special in the means that:
1) In case the device does not support Auto-MDI, it will use MDI for this port instead of MDI-X which would be the default for normal ports.
2) I believe that in some devices/manufacturers, the uplink port behaves also like a spanning port, forwarding the traffic of all the other ports.
3) In many cases the uplink port will have some extra technical specifications, aiming to function better under conditions of increased traffic that two switches or hubs will potentially exchange.
Unfortunatelly I can't recall the information source for the latest two, so I can't be more specific, but it should be a valid one. Perhaps someone can be of more help here
