WARNING: Cisco Lab VTY/Console & Enable Passwords !!!

It seems like some people are more keen on creating problems rather than educating themselves.

Unfortunately, we've had at least two users who decided they don't need to follow our guidelines, and use different, from those indicated, 'enable' passwords on our first lab's router.

The result of this action was to block our automated reset system from obtaining access to the router and resetting it for the next user.

We really hate to enforce rules like we've done in the past and therefore kindly ask that you follow a few simple guidelines provided, to help everyone get a chance to work on the equipment.

Users caught abusing the system (excessive booking schedules or performing actions they shouldn't e.g deleting IOS's, using different passwords than those indicated) will be deleted from the Cisco lab system and our site.

Let's hope these incidents won't occur again!

Thank you.

redduck666,

When first login in to the lab equipment, you shouldn't need to enter any password! If the router or switch requests a password, its because the previous user didn't bother following our guidelines and as a result, our system was unable to reset the device's configuration.

When this happens, need to manually perform a password recovery procedure so you can access the equipment.

We are looking into a solution for these 'problematic' situations.

Cheers,

Chris Partsenidis.
