but this is really how Windows Xp is (euuhh with its firewall)

The firewalls not that bad especially if they improve it with SP2.. however can you believe a firewall that

a. Has NO egress filtering capability
b. Provides API's for you to enable / disable / open / close ports etc

I have played with SP2 and what I find is the Firewall with SP2 is McAffe and it gives you a control panel to make better configuration to the firewall. One reprieve, you can disable the firewall all together (I’m not a big fan of McAffe products). SP2 also offers a popup stopper.
