802.3 FRAME length feild was created by Nevins
Not to nitpick but the book I'm reading says the length field of a Ethernet frame is limited at 1536 not 1518. Is my book not; correct who has the typo?
Offset 12-13: Length
Bytes 13 and 14 of an Ethernet frame contain the length of the data in the frame, not including the preamble, 32 bit CRC, DLC addresses, or the Length field itself. An Ethernet frame can be no shorter than 64 bytes total length and no longer than 1518 bytes total length.

Check what specific Ethernet frame type that page is talking about. The different frames have different fields. I believe SNAP is the one that can use 1536, whereas the others use 1518.

Thats pretty much what I was saying actually.
The snap webpage says 1518.
The book on the other hand says 1536.
