I am working on MCSE certifications. I also plan to take the network+ test offered by CompTIA. Is it necessary or beneficial for me? Someone suggest me to use exam guide by Michael Meyers and Brian Schwarz book and ucertify practice tests. I think that these resources are sufficient for passing the network+ exams. If anyone has another idea tell me.

You would be much better off taking a whole course in Networking, i;e a Networking Diploma. In my case, I'm recieving all of the following certificates:
MCSA
MCSE
MCP
LPIC (Level 1)
Network+
i-Net+
Server+
Linux+
Security
This makes it easier for me. When it comes down to it, if I single-handled buy books for all those certs + the exam fees, my tuition fee and the price of self-study will almost be the same. This way, I have a teacher and I work around a friendly environment to keep me going. Its very hard teaching yourself when you arn't really arround anyone, for me its difficult because I don't really "push" myself into learning it.
