I'm planning to do a CCNA course from a particular institute in mumbai, they have the following equipments :

One Cisco 2513 Token Ring & Ethernet Router

One VConsole ISDN Simulator
One Cisco Catalyst 5000 Switch with ATM MMF Blade
One Cisco Catalyst 1924 Switch
One Cisco Catalyst 3900 Token Ring Switch with ATM Blade

One Cisco PIX 515-UR Firewall with IOS Version 6.1 (1)

Is this good??

12 CCIE's have trained from here....thts what they say.

also the CCNA course is for 5 days and 8 hrs/day...

the lab is open for 24hrs/day, and one can practice anytime they want ....

Is this institute good??

I may have stepped into this one but having read the equipment list a couple of times and that being just an equipment list I am willing to make these comments.

First you can't judge a school/academy/etc by its equipment list at least not fully. A complete lack of equipment may be some indication but this is not the case. While it may not accommodate a large number of students it is comprehensive.

Instructors make up more than half of what you should evaluate in an institution. While this is hard to judge in a first impression I would ask did you check out the certifications degrees etc that the instructors have. Have you talked to students from this school? what did they say?

If former students are not available did you look at course syllabi? Are they a Cisco Academy? Without any of the above questions answered I would say based on the equipment list alone they do deserve a serious consideration.

What is the name of the institute.. and they do your whole CCNA training in 5 days?

Thanks for replying..... all the instructors are certified here....they atleast are CCNA certified.....Ive spoken to the students and they say tht theyve cleared in the 1st attempt itself ....the name of the institue is called RouterMania..... also they complete the CCNA trining in 5 days....

And this place is in Mumbai? Are you sure this isn't Sahirh moonlighting??

I agree with mew,

the equipment used or advertised by the center shouldn't be the reason you select them for your training. Do your research and see if the instructors are 'known' for their good quality teaching and then look at the equipment they are using.

The list you mentioned is quite impressive and certainly covers not only CCNA, but CCNP and possibly CCIE level training. Who knows ... we might have an equal amount - if not more - in our cisco lab
