CCNP 2 years after CCNA

Hello Gurus

I'm planning to take my CCNP after 2 years being CCNA, CCNA will expire after it's 3rd year. My question is if I just passed 1 exam out of the 4 for the CCNP, and the expiration date of the CCNA has come, should I need to retake the CCNA first before continue the other 3 exams for the CCNP? or does it refresh already my CCNA license?

Well, i thought the answer to this was a simple, you need to pass them all before the CCNA expires. After looking this up, this is incorrect. If you pass one of the 642 exams then it recertifies your CCNA. See here for more details

Also, its worth noting that the CCNP exams have recently changed so if you have already got the study material for the old exams you will either have to sit all 4 before 31st December or start on the new exams and get the newer study material.

Yes the CCNP only lasts for 3 years. Again, to re-certify though you can just resit one of the CCNP exams. I am in the same situation with my CCSP so i plan to sit the new PIX/ASA exam as i have not seen anything to do with the ASA yet so i am looking forward to it

Keep in mind though, you can take _ANY_ 642 level exam to recertify for the professional level certs.

My CCNP is coming up for renewal, so I am going to recertify with the CCIP BGP exam and start the CCIP certification process. If you wanted the CCNP/CCIP cert, you could recertify your CCSP with an exam from one of those tracks, instead of re-taking an exam you already passed.

If you are planning on acquiring more than one cert, it is a good idea to use the re-certification process to your advantage, and kill 2 birds with one stone.
