Small bump and an update.

What i did find is that when you have the windows firewall enabled and ipcop turned on, they create a conflict.

For all, to get ipcop to work 100%, disable the windows firewall.

/me walks away with a sheepish grin.

Ah, the dreaded Windows firewall stirkes again! How many times has that been the ultimate culprit in posts about problems such as these? The 'Firewall ON by default' approach in SP2 should come with a Government Health Warning

Glad to hear it's working OK, TheHarlequin, although I haven't come across this before. I'll make a note of it for future use.

A note of warning too - with the windows firewall enabled, whilst testing, i found that when you enable proxy through IE's connections tab, the ipcop web-access page would crash and IE would stop viewing pages in general.

2 days in effect, now, and everything's running like a baby's bottom. Just for the people who'd want to know the box info :

AMD K6 @ 200, 192MB @ 100mhz, 10GB drive, 1.4.8 + squid

(and this, coming from a ms-dos/windows user since 1988 - never touched unix/linux for fear of buggering up a server or similar :) - chuffed that it's working perfectly now)

Not having a go at Microsoft, because I use a lot of their products .... but I use Firefox and Thunderbird and have never come across any of these issues. You're probably suffering from IE's renowned "arms length" relationship with Web standards.
