Monitor Outgoing Network Packets

Hey Guys,

I have a wireless internet connection and i would like to know is thier a program or steps i have to follow that can help me monitor packets that leave and enter my pc. I want to test if my infortmation is encrypted of not.

Any advice will be greatly appreicated.

Ethereal ( www.ethereal.com/ ) should do the job.

Thankl you for the link.


Quick question, i installed Analogx port sniffer but when i try to run it, i get a socket error message. "Unable to open Raw Socket"

Any advice.

I looked it up and it appears that a reboot is required after installation. Have you tried ethereal yet? It is definitely more fully-featured and solid than the Analogx product.

Hey Dalight,

I tried running the ereal program, i rebooted after installing. i just have difficulty reading the packets.

Sorry, should have warned that you need to download and install WinPcap ( www.winpcap.org/install/default.htm ) for Ethereal to work. It may seem a bit bothersome, but I assure you that it's worth the hassle.
