Configure Static IP on PIX 501 was created by MayankPatel
Hi, I am a newbie. So, please forgive me if any of my quesions are silly.
My ISP is Covad. I have 5 static IPs from them.
Covad has provided me with Broadxent 8120 ADSL modem/Router. I also have PIX 501 firewall.
I want to configure my PIX 501 to one of the provided static IP.
MY problem is that I am able to configure the outside interface of 501 as DHCP and receive one of the ip from the 8120 router but when I configure the 501 with static IP the interface does show come up but it I am not able to use the internet.
Thanks for your help.

Have you configured your ISP's mac address on the router? On my router, I had to use my ISP's mac address in order to get any internet working.

Mayank,
After your firewall gets a DHCP address from the router, can you ping the ip 4.2.2.2 from the firewall ?
When you say that you are not able to get to Internet are you trying to go to Internet from behind the firewall ? If yes then did you configure nat and global on the 501.
nat (inside) 1 0 0
global (outside) 1 interface
