Hello Everyone,
Is there any way to use the tracert command even when the ISP has blocked all the ICMP traffic?
its very annoying as my job is to locate the faulty points using commmands such as traceroute or tracert , there is always a request timed out output.
when enquired with the ISP, he says he has done it for security reasons.
I can understand the importance of ICMP in hacking or DoS attacks.
but this is hindering one important function.
is there any way out or any other tool which i can use ?
thanks for reading

You can do whats called a TCP traceroute.. set a TTL of <#of hops + 1> and choose a destination port like port 80 that should not be blocked, and see what you get back..
In fact traceroute under Linux should already be patched to do this
