how internet security risk is Nigeria?

I know there are a lot of scammers and impersonators in the nigerian internet space but the press is blowing this threat out of proportion.

when i read write ups in PCWORLD on security you will see nigeria featuring on Internet security section,Hollywood, talkshows and newly published books on security are all not leftout.

Now I understand the game- sell nigeria negatively and you make money. It doesn't really matter how many scam mails come from Zanzibar, serialone, vietnam, china, etc.

some of the worst internet technology sins are being committed in china and russian because of their technical education it's on the high side compared to nigeria .

this is a simple fact of a neutral interest so,
only unbiased minds are welcome

I think it's because the first 419 scams originated in Nigeria and surrounding areas. So Nigeria has now become synonymous with dodgy dealing on the internet and people often talk about "Nigerian internet scams" when as you rightly say they now come from all over the place and take all kinds of different forms. In fact the latest couple of 'pump and dump' spammers to be jailed were in the USA

the meaning of 419, is the number attached to cheating and other related crimes in the nigerian criminal code. It is a civil case that has some criminal ingredients when trust is breached delibrately.

so when did cheating on the internet started?

maybe before internet came to nigeria

I blended with the street scammers in nigeria undercover. and I made fantastic discoveries which I will post in this trend later.
these boyz are within the ages of 15-21 and are very very very flexible on the keyboard.
