IPCOP with or without another router? was created by Rajkumarxxx
Hi all, this may sound dumb but.....I am currently running IPCOP which connects to a Linksys router which is connected to the internet.
My question is - Do I need to have the Linksys router? Can I not just connect the IPCOP box direct to the ADSL port on the wall?
If so, how would I set up the connection details (user name and password etc)?
Is the only way to use a modem?
thanks for the help!

From your post it appears that your Linksys is not just a router, but a DSL modem router. In that case your IPCOP will not connect directly to the ADSL port wall unless you install an internal (PCI) DSL modem in your IPCOP. Since you already appear to have a working DSL modem (Linksys) there seems to be no point in changing especially as you may have some compatibility problems with different PCI modems which would not be the case with an ethernet modem.

Hi Daylight, my Linksys is an "ADSL Gateway" model WAG54G, is this a Modem router? Do you know if I can use this in Bridge mode? Ta

hei there ...
i've some similar problem here for my paper ....
this is the topology:
internet
|
router
|
Switch - ipcop
|
client
ipcop use the same block ip as client, i wanna use just for webproxy.
i already make redirect for all traffic using port 80 to ipcop, but it seems like my ipcop didn't work.
so please could you direct me to the right ipcop conf, coz i'm new about it.
right now i only use standard configuration and didn't use any addon.
conf:
net type: green + red
ipblock: 192.168.100.0/24
ipcop: 192.168.100.2
router: 192.168.100.1
thank you for helping
