ipcop help needed... was created by donanak
Guys, I have an ipcop box which is working brilliant with no issues what so ever (t'chwood).

I have servers hosted on the 'orange' part of the network and i'm running an ssh on one of the devoted boxes.

I have found myself in an 'environment' where all outbound port has been blocked except the usual port 80 and 21. There's also https allowed which we mostly use to access secured sites.

To cast the dice, is there any other secured port to use to be able to access an ssh on my private network at home if i'm within this 'environment'. I wouldn't want to use any other port which is not secured as port 22.

I tried changing ssh port to 443 which is easy enough but on the port forwarding on ipcop i can't seem to be able to open that port as it report of 443 can only be used by ipcop.

well as you may ask, i'm using ipcop 1.4.11 the latest version. No addons, proxy in transparent mode. Literrally it's a standard built.

Any suggestions and ideas will be highly welcome.

Cheers!

The "security" is not a function of the port number, but of the protocol being used to transmit the data. So you could run ssh over any ports you wish i.e. 80, 21 as long as the proxy servers in the transmission path are not intercepting the data.

Glad to hear it's working. I was worried that the traffic would be intercepted by a proxy server.
