Do AdAware, Spybot and your virus checker not show up anything nasty at all?

Sorry, I thought the question was clear enough. I was just asking for confirmation that the tools you mentioned did not indicate any specific infection. But no matter now; it's fixed! Can you share more detail of what symptoms you had and what you did to fix it? This information might help others in the future

One useful tip I have found when this sort of thing hits....

First place to look is in the registry to see if anything has sneaked in there. It's not a coverall fix but it does weed out a good percentage of nasties by stopping them running when the system boots giving you a better chance of finding the offending article and removing it.. Break it's grip on the system as some of these can be tricky to get under control.

Look in HKEY_CURRENT_USER/software/microsoft/windows/currentversion/[run/runonce/runonceex]
and
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/software/microsoft/windows/currentversion/[run/runonce/runonceex]

and see if anything unusual is there.
Can also help you save memory by removing printer driver update/etc. mechanisms and the like that are put there by the manufacturer that don't really need to be running all the time.

These programs are just a pain in the backside.....

the bishop thanks once again for ur reply...... and em as for the spyware stuff right as i said i downloaded ad-aware, cwshredder, spybot s and d, etc.

Ad-aware said it found 14 critical system errors which i quarantined and fixed and yet did not solved the problem.

cwshredder said it found no cool web search.

spy bot s and d em got something but helped 5 % out of 100%.

in any case i decided to use my brain since it looked like d anti spywares i thought should work did not work.

so i went into the registry carefully checked out the softwares area and i saw the thingy spyware there and i kicked its ass immediately.

then i went to add / remove and i realized that there were softwares in there that where not suppose to be there e.g. alerter, something messenger and one other worthless bitch. so i removed them restarted the system and still found it there i did the same again and it went i rebooted and lo and behold the punks and the thingy went away from my clients laptop.

so that was how i solved the problem.

incase anyone does not understand pls feel free to get back to me....
