Hi everyone,

This is my first post. If this looks silly plz. forgive me.
I want to know how to make sure an IPS is reliable one or not?
For ex. if we put across parallel attacks simultaneously, say DoS attacks, is that enough for me to conclude an IPS is stable & reliable. (if it doesn't buckle under pressure)!

Hi,
What you need is to have a security assessment or penetration-test done for the IPS and the network it is protecting. Basically, a penetration testing team will attempt to bypass your IPS and see whether it's really doing its job.

If you want more info on this, lemme know

Cheers,

If i go for penetration testing alone say

Light perimeter test — testing the strength of the perimeter from a remote location.

Full perimeter test — verifying the security of the perimeter, the servers in the DMZ, with remote exploitation of the DMZ, and accessible internal systems.

Internal test — the 'trusted-insider' test, launched from inside the client's network, with internal exploitation.

Is these 3 tests alone confirm whether my IPS is stable & reliable or is there any other ways by which i can perform testing?

Can you please provide more info. regarding this?
