that mean we have to block this Doom gameYou don't want the students to be able to install Doom 3 and play their buddies online
base on your experience, how did you block the spyware/adawareAlso, spyware and adware could be clogging up your connection with uneeded traffic
If i said below 50K, is it possible(without AP included)I can't really give you a way to implement this without knowing your cost limit
Do you think this is the best method?Or maybe you can make a good Linux box that would serve as the firewall, router, and bandwidth controller?

Lol, I was just meaning keep host security in mind with the Doom 3 example. Adaware, Spy Sweeper, Spybot and more are all popular anti-malware apps. Some even have a corporate version that feature better software updating and management. As far as using a Linux or BSD router/firewall/bandwidth controller, I'm sure it could work with a 4000 user network just fine, but if you're concerned about performance it might not be worth the risk. Perhaps someone with experience could shed some light on this?

So, would anybody recommend a Linux box to support 4000 users as a router/firewall...? I'd assume so since I've read some articles about how Linux is being for routing, but hands on experience would be great.
