Hi,
I just saw Chris homenetwork, it's a pretty good design, actually i'm looking for something like that in order to practice network stuff in my home like Active Directory, DNS, Linux servers ...
I just wonder if he's still using 56 kbps modem as DSL-routers are commun these days.
So any suggestion concerning home network can be helpful.
I also suggest a competition for the best home network design.
so thanks for all.

From what I believe DSL is still pretty expensive in Greece -- which is why Chris runs on 56k dial-up.
The same problem here in India, I can't afford the luxury of broadband so I have a dial-up connection. It can be a pain maintaining the site over such slow speeds but when you figure you're at work most've the time, its not so bad.
Frankly I believe that connectivity is more important than bandwidth.

My home network is actually quite different... but its not worth diagraming.. basically
24/7 dial-up connectivity @ 56kbps
One AMD Athlon XP 2600+ / 512 MB RAM running dual boot with Debian testing/unstable and Windows XP Professional..
The interesting thing about this box is that it runs VMWare images of honeypot systems.. so I can setup a honeypot at the drop of a hat.. I have default install images of most major operating systems.
Then there is an IBM Thinkpad R51 PIV / 512 with Intel Pro Wireless that serves as my road warrior system.
I also have another AMD Athlon 1Ghz system that runs a hard-disk install of Knoppix w/ OpenMosix.. but that box is down right now.
Simple

I've actually forgot to update the diagram
The connection has been upgraded to a 256/128K ADSL connection, which is basically the Cisco Lab's connection I'm just using it for the time being and until the Lab is up and running properly
