TV signal over UTP cable ? was created by KiralyVlad
Hi, I was wondering if there is a way to transmit TV signals through the 4 remaining cables of a UTP, and if it can be done, would it affect the magnetic field created by ethernet signals ?

I asked someone who knows and his brief answer was that transporting tv signals should not affect the performance of the ethernet, but the utp cable is not appropriate to transport such signals so there will be significant losses in them.

Depends what you mean by TV signals - if you mean real UHF TV signals as recieved from a TV aerial then I agree that the losses down the cable wll be so bad that it's not worth the effort. But you can buy line drivers that will transport video signals quite happily over UTP and if you could break out your UTP cable and connect the line drivers to your spare pairs then that should work
