HELP!!! was created by eli2983
hi, I have 2 computers connected by RJ-45 cabble, which is checked, and it's good.Win xp is the OS that runs on the computers.

The problem:

I have a reply for a ping from one computer(10.10.10.1 /24) to the other computer (10.10.10.2 /24) but dont have a reply from the other computer(10.10.10.2 /24) to the first one(10.10.10.1 /24).

I have to mention that no firewalls or other devices that can block ports or connections is involved here!

thank you for helping me

I have seen this problem before. It could be a couple of things with XP. I am assuming you have file sharing turned on with regard to your local area connection - properties.

On an XP computer on the desk top right click my computer, click explore, click tools on the pull down, click folder options, click the View tab, scroll all the way to the bottom and make sure the box for "use simple file sharing (recommended)" is checked. Let me know if this helps or if you have already found the problem.

Hi eli2983,

Had the same problem....unistalled and reinstalled the card and trust me it worked...I have no clue for this problem....but this definetly worked for me...may be you can clear the ARP cache(arp * -d) on 10.10.10.2/24 computer and then try to ping 10.10.10.1/24...quite obvious you would get Request Timed Out...but check the ARP cache of 10.10.10.2/24...if you see the MAC of the other computer then...something is blocking the ICMP packets....may be you can also install sniffers on both computers and see...on 10.10.10.1/24 you can check if a ping request from 10.10.10.2/24 hits the adapter....if yes..check if a reply is formed on 10.10.10.1/24...if no FIREWALL....if yes MISTRY...
