Hi I've got three home PCs connected to a cisco 2900 catalyst XL switch and everything talks over it just fine, problem is I can't get at the switch config or anything. I was told it had a web based config can anyone tell me how to get into it??? :? Its been a long time since I messed with these things!

Cheers

The catalyst 2900 XL was the first piece of Cisco hardware I ever touched...

you can't access the HTTP interface just directly.. you'll have to enable it in the config.. you can do this by telneting to the switch if thats enabled or you can use the console port through hyperterminal...

get to enable mode..

then I believe the command was 'ip http server'.. which will enable the webserver...

I suggest you dont use the webserver administration.. its not very intuitive like maybe a linksys web admin interface.. the CLI for IOS is unmatched however.. its fast and very effective.

Keep in mind, older Cisco http servers were insecure. If you leave it open to the public you might have a problem down the road.
