Leased Line Question

Leased Line Question was created by kogula14
I have leased line connection from Point A to Point B. As i understand, both end must be configured with the encapsulation which basically use PPP (since it is open protocol).
I have configured both end with encapsulation ppp, but the status shows
"Interface UP, Protocol DOWN"
But, when i remove the encapsulation ppp on both end, then the Protocol shows UP.
I am confuse now, because as i understand, if we use Leased line, we must configured encap protocol in order both side to communicate, but it works if i remove it. Any idea?

Did you setup authentication type (chap or pap). If you did, you should also define a username/password on both ends (using the username command). Let the username be the same as the device's host name of the other end.
Otherwise if you did not setup authentication, it should work!!. So better if you post both configs here so that we can have a deeper look.

Kogula14,
I'd highly advise you perform a ppp debug on your router to see what is really happening.
You can also use the following link to help troubleshoot and debug your leased line:
www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk482/tk607/tec...99.shtml#downwithppp
Once you find an answer, do let us know what the problem was.
Cheers,
