Weird Issues with 2600/2500 Router

Hi, just got my hands on a 2600 series router, works perfectly fine i.e. connect via console, obeys all commands, but from startup, only the Activity LED flashes for some time and then stops, After that, none of the LEDs are lit. Inspite of the router works perfectly well, even though I should have alteast a steady power LED and a intermittantly flashing Activity LED.
Any leads guys?

Hi Arani,

It could be that the Power LED is damaged. If the IOS has loaded/booted properly, the activity LED should blink when you have network traffic in/out of the the router. It should be off with no traffic.

Are there any error messages while booting? Could you post them? If the problem is only at the Power LED, I guess it's nothing to worry about.

Not a single error message. I realised something today, I didn't have any of lights turned on in the room, and I noticed the power LED lit up very faintly in the front, and more LED light coming out from the router's left side (when viewed from the front).
I reckon, the Power LED might be a bit dislocated within the chassis, and not placed directly at the back of the front plate.
So nothing to worry about.
False alarm again!!!

Replied by Arani on topic Issue with 2501 Router
Hi All, Assistance required
On my 2501 router, it only boots from ROM, instead of flash. Took me about 5 mins to discover there was no IOS on the flash, and the flash was coming up as 'Device not programmable'. When I tried to tftp an IOS to flash it said 'Error: Device is read only'.
Any ideas?

Thanks all the same guys, but looks like I fixed this issue as well. Opened up the router, removed the FLASH SIMM card, cleaned the contacts. Put it back into the slot. Bingo!!
Router booted up straightaway into normal mode. Immediatly copied the running config onto flash before anything bad happened.
Went ahead and upgraded the IOS on that 2501 router. All's well up and running.
Cheers guys
